my friend has a HP and it has a remote that like controls the sound and plays and pauses movies and so on. Will it work on my Dell computer (its a Windows XP office)

u would have to have a IR port on your computer and drivers to run it + it wont cause the IR that the remote sends is coded for the hp computer not a dell sorry u will have to find a universal remote or get 1 from dell and

If it is the HP media center then as long as you have the USB remote port and are running XP [or grab a driver cd] it will work. You might want to call HP though to ask since the remote is made for a media center are there are proprietary programs you might need [ie Windows XP Media Center Edition]!

NO, for several reasons.
Your DELL doesn't have the necessary hardware, (or you would have gotten a remote with it.) You could add hardware.
You don't have the necessary software. You could ALSO obtain software
They are different brands, (and if you added the hardware you would have your own remote that came with the hardware), and the control codes are probably different.(That is why universal remotes come with a list of device codes for you to program into them!!)

Dont think so! You would need the hardware on the pc end of the remote also and if yours didnt come with it it wont work!

I think it may only work on your computer if your computer has the required drivers to support that remote and if your computer has an infared port.
