Ability to operate abstract categories in our brain. This is what makes us different from animals.
DNA is similar, but not the same.
No we are not the same species.

The answer is they AREN'T completely different. The similarities are scary, and go from anatomical plan down to little facts that both humans and apes have the same gene for making vitamin C... and they're both disabled by the same defect (unlike animals such as rats, which have the functional gene).
The major differences at the molecular level are a gene fusion in humans (human chromosome 2 has the same genes in the same order as a certain pair of ape chromosomes) and a bunch of point mutations. The Human Genome Project and its follow-on work is still uncovering the details.
Some people think that humans and bonobos may be able to breed to produce fertile offspring; in other words, the same species. (Bonobos are closer to humans than they are to chimpanzees.) But nobody's done that test yet, so the question hasn't been answered. It's probably unethical, anyway.
Now, if someone came up to me and told me I was no different from a monkey, I'd laugh at them. Show me the monkey which can build a house, do calculus (let alone invent it), write software or sonnets. The irony is that being simpler, coarser and dumber is what distinguishes the monkey from the human - and the person making the claim proves themselves closer to the monkey! But just as the winner of a Nobel prize is related to their drug-addicted jailbird cousin, humans and apes are one big extended family.

This is a common question from the creationists and it makes no sense at all. Modern day apes descended from their early ancestors traced back to a hominid species dating over 2.7 to 4 m.y.a.
Modern man belongs to the genus Homo, which is a subgroup in the family of hominids. What evolved into Homo was likely the genus Australopithecus (once called "man-ape"), which includes the famed 3.2 million-year-old "Lucy" fossil found three decades ago.
The whole human family tree, being able to connect the branches is the life work of anthropoligists and other scientists. The great apes are man's closest cousins, they developed off the main family of hominids over 4 m.y.a.
To say that modern man descended from present day monkeys and apes is as ludicrous as saying "horses descended from zebras, so why are the zebras still around...?"

We. Did. Not. Come. From. Monkeys. Just because monkeys happen to have fingers and toes and happen to have a FEW of the same physical features does NOT mean that we evolved from monkeys. We are seperated by the ability to think and reason, which is given to us by God.

I do not even know where to begin with your ignorance.Men and monkeys have common ancestors; we do not " come " from monkeys, whatever that means. Two different species does not mean two different " types ", but variants, which is all species are.
A difference of degree, not kind. Go to " natural selection " on wikipedia and start to erase your ignorance.

Take note that evolution took place because of the changes of climate. Temperature is truly a huge factor. You may notice, monkeys have thicker skin... While modern man had less... Although it is assumed that man came from monkeys, it does not necessarily mean that we are their total alike. In terms of non-physical aspect, of course, we humans, are truly far more intelligent than those apes...

The physical proof is in the DNA. The most pronounced proof is all around us, and the proof is us! Where on the planet have humans not gone? We've even gone to the moon, and our machines have left the solar system on their way to interstellar space. What monkey machine is there? None!

A couple million years of evolution and about 2% of DNA. There is a greater difference between monkeys and apes than there is between chimps and humans.

If man came from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys, why haven't the rest evolved. Man did not come from the monkey. Since man was created in God's image, then are you saying God looks like a monkey, Finally, if we evolved from the monkey, then why don't we drive with our feet.

because a monkey is Wilde and lives most of its life the way nature intended, it has no choice, unfortunately men and women are supposed to be the most intelligent of the species they have a choice monkeys don't, but its sad but true they are both has bad as one and other they are equal to one and other if they learn to see it, they would probably understand it, I know my mum understands it now and she's an old lady and i understand it. most people don't understand it until its too late. Maybe even if we put bill board up and show something that might trigger them into realising they are just at war with one and other instead, and realise that they create their own problems in there own lifes, but they just don't want see it because they choose not to see it, that's what selfish love is all about "them" they can't live with one and other yet they think they can live apart? so learn from one and other that's what it all about. (them) that need to understand it for themselves what selfish love is to one and other is. and what true love really is. your just at war with one and other and creating your own wars against one and other.you think of the kids in real wars you and feel sorry for them. why can't you feel sorry for your own kids before you feel sorry for someone Else's because your good people you just don't see it. if you can't understand it try listerning to your kids it really does help, do you know where your kids are right at this moment because i know where mine are? they should not be on the streets at this late hour, no mater how old they are? the streets are frightening enough for adults in the day time never mind the night times so what do think its like for these kids? and the kids that are out there understand more than their own role models in life has to their own individual reasons why. let your kids educate u and learn to listern to them its not hard. while they are out there, when they should not be. they think no one cares, well I care and so do a lot of good people and any decent parent would? i learnt why i was out there along time ago and it wasn't has scary then has it is in these modern times and i learn something new every day with my kids by simply learning to listern to them they have a voice listern to it and you will learn to realise what wounderful kids we all have. don't wait for another tragidy to happen when you can prevent it now. don't be afraid to ask for help if you need help the right people will help but learn to help yourselfs by learning to listen to whats in your own hearts first and then get the strenght and the courage and the rest should follow. learning to understand ourselves first must be a good way forward for ourselves, well that's my opion anyway no offence intended to any one.
