How can anyone know what is in God's mind? The only reason they claim this is because someone told them it is so. How do they know what they were told is true? What proof is there?

I am not an atheist, by the way.

Do you live on Earth, which provides you with food and water? On a planet that is the perfect distance from a star for Life to exist on it. And do you live in a Universe, which the solar system you live in is in the perfect place of the Milky Way galaxy the provides you the ability to observe where you are not erased by gamma radiation or by star dust in that Galaxy? Are you in a galaxy that is not colliding with another galaxy out of some 750 billion galaxies? I would say Yes!
The Proof is in what God told man and by the word of God means Truth of God. Is it not Truth you are alive and experiencing this reality? Who is to say you are really here as well but by your own true reality. This is why we are call individuals. For we observe this reality and can only share it through our own eyes but to know of some one whom has more ability other than in this reality can only be a leap of faith. And Faith is all that is needed to touch the face of God.

Excellent question, the audacity of people to assume that their interpretation is the right one and they fight about it as well, like the religious disputes now. But to each their own, so they should keep it to themselves rather than fight. There is only one God and he is God of all no matter what language or name. It is the interpretation that is confused. Killing is wrong and the rest of the 10 commandments as well Stealing, lying, etc., so then what we are born with is instinct, and a conscience. The conscience and some people call it your soul tells you not to take a brick and kill your dog or cat. But some people do that and yet they justify those things by misinterpreting the scripture. So the best thing is to believe what you hear from inside your conscience and dont try to subscribe to their pushing upon you their interpretations of their personal beliefs. No one has seen God on this earth as of late and if they have and tell someone they probably would be either laughed at or put in a loony bin. It becomes familiar when Jesus was crucified, he said he was with God the father and that he was his son and he got nailed up to a cross. People seem to want a God that belongs only to them and symbolize him as they want to control others and God. That makes them loony.

the flat answer has to be yes!

it follows (for me at least) that God is in us. The evidence around us suggests that to a subscribing individual, God is personal, He reflects one's own world view, whatever that may be.

The individual might have different ideas of what 'perfect is' or the ever contested concept of 'heaven' some will believe that it is unimaginable by the human mind and be satisfied with it, others will draw that heaven is about subservience and singing hymns, some will see it as a place where they can have anything they want. Sceptics of course might even propose that heaven might involve an absence of our ability to need (we're kept in a mysterious, constantly satusfied state which might legitimately be called 'heaven')

We can know God therefore because to a large extent we ARE God, he is what we see and what we feel and what we expect, and until we learn otherwise, whatever is in our collective heads will be the truth for us!

We know because we have faith. Of course subscribers will look to events in their lives and see explanations and justifications for God. I for example know that I have recieved everything i have ever sat down and seriously prayed for. Whatever explanation a more 'objective' person might make, that, and how i feel about it, is a truth I look to if ever i feel the need to question his existence.

We cannot know that God has a mind like we know a mind to be. Infact we can be sure that he doesn't have one, and yet (or because) he understands and guides us all.

To me, the life i live is the proof. What comes after is just a celebration or a reward. I just hope i'im earning it well!!

I myself am not an atheist, and have asked any religious person to offer physical proof of why their religion is the one to follow. So far no takers. That does not take away from their or anyone Else's faith, it simply states that No one has the right to say they are the last word in "revelation" from God. The truth from where I stand is that our personal beliefs are just that..........personal beliefs and as such are not provable. I'm OK with that, just don't try and force others, because without proof, or the voice of God, you must not force belief on anyone else. Part of the pact with the universe is the right to choose.........I repeat, the Right to Choose!!!

Arrogance, my foot. It is plain foolishness and perhaps even cunning to say so. On the other hand those who believe that a book can contain God's word are even bigger fools. God does not need to send His word through any book whatsoever. Books are as human as we are!!
Wonder why most of the Believers are so naive when it comes to the self proclaimed agents of God - believing in God is actually clever.

No gadfly,i would not call it arrogance,I studied siddha yoga with swami muktananda paramahamsa ,i can tell you without doubt that all he said and did encluding all the books he wrote are the inspired word of God. God himself imparted to me that Muktananda spoke the truth. he did this three times. Now if one says this book is the only book containing the word of God ,it would not only be arrogant,it would be a lie.

We needn't claim what a book is. The book makes its own claims. Only through careful consideration and application, do we find what is true and good from whichever book we read or believe.
Time will tell if the fruit on the vine is ripe, tasteful and sweet:
The Word will take you on a journey, to be sure. What you make of it is up to you.

It's not arrogant its human. No one knows literally what is in God's mind. Therefore we read the book that he supposedly sent so that we can figure it out.
