why isn\t halloween as popular as it was 10 years ago? seems like we are getting less and less trick or treaters every year.

when I was a kid going trick or treating was a 5 hour affair...we covered 10-15 different towns every year. Getting pillow cases full of candy! My parents used to get 100 or more trick or treaters up until the last 5 years or so and only got 30 or so this year!

It seems like parents in general are getting more and more over protective. They think Halloween is bad. Which is ridiculous. I celebrate Halloween every year!

It could just be that all of the kids in your area that used to be young and into trick or treating about 10 years ago may have "grown up" and think that they're too old to trick or treat.

I think because parents think it is more dangerous now than it was 10 years ago. In out neighborhood the churches, schools and the malls are having supervised parties for the kids.

It's been 5 hours. I've had 2 kids. Should I give up?

Anyways. I think you're right. Kids go to parties now and stuff instead of going for candy.

Parents have safety concerns for their kids.

When I was young (back in the Jurassic era), we were outside without parental supervision after dark all the time, particularly in winter (I was usually down at the skating pond). You can't do that anymore.

Even in our very small village, most parents opt to take their children to the party at the fire station rather than take them door to door.

I know, I noticed that too..I'm guessing they all go to the schools and to halloween clubs and things like that..things people have so they will stay safe instead of walking the streets.

i think it's the religion. Halloween is the devil's holiday they say.
I think it's fine to trick or treat as long as your not doing it for the devil. and that doesn't cross our minds at all
