I have a 95 Buick Centry in the shop and they are charging me $1,600 to replace some headgaskets and I was just curious on how much does it usually run, to replace some headgaskets on a V6 3.100 engine for a 95 Buick centry?

this seems awful steep i hope this price includes all machine shop repairs [pressure testing, resurfacing, valve and seat grinding, and stem seals] did they find the causal part that caused the gaskets to blow? 11year old plastic tank radiator should be flow tested and pressure tested. but i reckon the real rub is that a running 11 year old buick can be purchased for about the same money.
get an itemized list style estimate before they start work and ask for your old parts back.

If I were you I'd ask for a detailed breakdown of the costs if the garage hasn't already done so. Actually, the price you've been quoted seems pretty much in line with the cost of doing a proper repair. You can get the job cheaper,,but there may be unacceptable shortcuts to make it that way.

Sounds high. Are they doing head work. The car is barely worth $1600 at NADA book pricing.

if it needs the heads or a head the price could be that high. if it does not need a head, the price sounds a bit high.

really need to have them breakdown the price and let you know what they are charging you for.
