If you can afford it, offer to do anything, even if you have to work another job and intern doing video for nothing. A local affiliate TV station might be a good place to start. The pay is terrible and the hours can be long and hard. But, if you show enthusiasm, are reliable, and have talent, you'll get noticed. In larger cities, there may be private production groups that need help on a project-by-project basis. Go for the legitimate video houses, keep your standards high, and stay away from weirdos and porn. I think it's better to start in small cities and towns and graduate to the big city. Make friends, connect with larger networks of people that share your production values and aspirations. Avoid girlfriends/boyfriends and forget about a social life for some time. Making it in this business requires full-time dedication and focus. Good luck
