Because Party preference polls are basically meaningless when it comes to predicting the outcome of individual House and Senate races. The media use them because they are less expensive than polling each individual district, and because they like any number that they believe will depress Republican turnout.
It's also possible they spent the last two years infiltrating the DNC dirty tricks operation. After the election, Republicans will have hard evidence of all the Democratic schemes, like busing mental patients to the polls with instructions on who to vote for, Dead people voting (like in New York) and phantom voters. (Like Philadelphia, where democratic turnout is sometimes OVER 100%.)
It's a well known fact that most Democrats can only win by lying and cheating. In the past Republicans foolishly tended to ignore it. In 2004 though, it became so massive and systematic, one would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not see it.
This time they're going to get you, and your little dog too!

Polls are so wonderful aren't they?
Like back in 2004 when the exit polls said that John Kerry won the Presidency with in the first couple of hours.
Or like in 2002 when the polls said that the Dems were going to easily retake the house and the senate.
It is really funny how much some people still lean on what the polls say, even though if you read the fine print on some of them you see that there were far more Dems polled the Republicans.
But keep relying on the polls to let you know who wins what before the elections ever happen, and I will continue to go out and cast my vote for the people who truly believe in this great country and will continue to fight to keep this the greatest nation in the world.

15 percent, you data has no value to the polls running today, esp after Kerrys little destroy the soldier speech.
In almost every race it is within 4 to 8 percents ( and that is within the margin of error) so these races are really right dead on.
And in some states like Missouri, the reb are now leading by almost 10 percent in todays polls.
And that does not count alot of the voters that for somereason don't admit they vote republican.
And no they will just win because it is what the people want, wait to they do win and you will see the stunts, just like in the last two where they try to win thogh the courts when they can't get the votes

The national polls don't matter. Each of the 435 races for seats in the House are individual races in 435 different districts. The national poll numbers reveal nothing at all at how those 435 races are going to turn out.

There's a difference between "taking Congress" and "losing seats." Besides, although it should be obvious to anyone that Republicans will be losing seats, polls have shown in the past to be very wrong. The 2004 exit polls versus the actual results show that especially well.

The Republicans have no chance of taking the house unless Bush finds Osama right before election day.

because in 2004 they said that Kerry would win by around 15-20%. And we all saw how well that worked out.

1) They have shown themselves to be masters of denial.
2) As Stalin said "It doesn't matter who casts the votes, but who counts the votes." The 2004 election has shown the truth of that.
To vote with an electronic voting machine is like throwing the vote away - they are proven unreliable, easily hacked & error-prone by anyone who has any knowledge whatsoever of them.
