And society doesn't seem to realize that by making their new lives difficult, they are INCREASING the chance they will re-offend!

My husband has been incarcerated 10 years now for child molestation. He turned himself in to "end the cycle" He did not commit sexual assault but signed a plea bargain for the higher crime because he was offered a lie. The system is filled with corruption. And the public is fed lies for political gain. The truth of re-offending is 3percent! But the public is fed hysterical lies of 100percent recidisisim! Look up the real figures. Yes they do face hell when they get out, told to move from home to home told not to be within feet of a theater, told to turn out their lights and not open the door on Halloween. These people have served their time!! It's double jepordy! Will murderers reoffend? Will wife beaters? Will Thieves? This mentality of continuing to punish, never letting up is the same as a death penalty only worse! Some of these people will snap under the unrelenting torture of being driven out and pointed at everywhere! Do people wonder that with such extreme unfair laws that they are risking the panic act of someone who stepped over the line and molested a child? Do they realize that these never ending punishments could drive someone to dispose of the evidence of their crime once the heat of act is over and fear sets in? See what the law and the public doesn't seem to realize is that people are not thinking about the Law or punishment when they commit a crime!! It's after that they go "OH What did I do!" and begin to think of concequences to themselves. I believe all the displays of vile hatred and all the daily hype of"The detested Monster Child Molesters" blows intelligence right out the window! The perpatrators are going to panic and kill children is what I am deathly afraid of. We need Doctors to help in the promotion of reasonable crime to sentence relativity. Not this "kill kill mentality that has become the year 2006 rendition of the Salem Witch hunts! With all the hype there is a reported "man in a baseball cap" trying to grab at least 2 children on the news every day, if you believe them!! How many people were burned at the stake for this type of hysteria?? Kids are quick to zero in on the latest attention getter. Not to depreciate the integral need to prosecute child molesters, sex offenders, my comments are directed to the overkill in addressing the crime, lumping all acts into same sentencing guidelines, and then the unconstitutional treatment of the ex sex offenders once released from prison. People do change! But the public makes many not care!!! Actually causes bitterness to override conscience.

I think that the society doesn't really mean to punish the offender but their history might have people worried and not thinking strait. The society is only trying to look out for the children's well being and will do whatever needed to keep the children safe from an ex- sex offender.

As a member of society, and at a young age. I would be afraid to live close a ex-sex offender just because i would be afraid that they would get urges to commit another crime and just might do it.

And most sex offenders don't realize the hell they create for their victims either. They suffer for the rest of their lives. Guilty of no crime. That is one of the reasons sex offenders re-offend. They refuse to take responsibility for the horror they create when they abuse others. That is why sex offenders lives are made HELL when they get out of jail. No one wants their loved ones to face the emotional tragedy of such an unnecessary evil. People are wise to want sex offenders kept away from those they love. They ruin lives in one terrible act that they feel hurts no one. Sex offenders are wrong. They hurt not only the victim and change their lives forever, but also change the lives of those that love them.

Sex offenders are not animals, they are evil doers. If sex offenders don't want to be mistreated, then sex offenders need to prove that they will not ruin another persons life again. Sex offenders have not been able to accomplish that, period.

Sex offenders have an almost 100% recurrence rate. They are the criminals most likely to repeat if they get the chance. I don't wont to put people I care about at that kind of risk. You are right about if you treat some one like an animal they will become an animal. The problem is, most sex offenders are already acting like animals. Giving in to impulse and personal wont's instead of doing the right thing.

Where do you get off on defending predators. Oh, yeah, let's just pat 'em on the back and give a lift into our neighborhoods and let them go for it. Statistically speaking most predators do not reform and they offend again.
Do not give me that bull stuff about HELL after you have paid your dues. No, let me tell what HELL is... it is being a defenseless seven year old child who losses her virginity to the very person she is completely dependent upon. It's having your own father rape you for seven years in your home with no one to rescue you.
No, you are barking up the wrong tree here. These type of predators a scrounge on our society.
No, these animals were worse than animals before they went to prison. Treating predators like we do animals is too good for them.

So what is your solution to this? Let them go without punishment? These people deserve all the hell they get and more! These people have no respect, concern, etc. for their victims, why should they be shown any.
It does make sense though, that because of society's hatred toward them that is does make it difficult to establish a life when they leave prison. So lets solve that problem and just put them in Ole Sparky and flip the switch. It solves two problems, we don't have to pay for their worthless rearends to be in prison and they won't re-offend that way.

Because sexual predators are more likely to re-offend no matter how you treat them. Would you want your sister or daughter or young son around a person with a history of sexually abusing someone. 99.9% of people wouldn't. They are dangerous. It's pretty much a proven fact that they can't be rehabilitated unless they want to be. It's like an addiction for them and I for one am not willing to put myself or anyone else for that matter in harms way if I can help it. They have a sickness for which there is no cure. If you are referring to yourself, I'm sorry you feel like you're being ostracized, but I don't trust you, and there's nothing in your history that says I should. In fact it's quite the opposite isn't it?

Some crimes do a damage that can never be repaired. You can replace an object that's been stolen but you can never replace what is taken from you in a sexual violation. The victim will never get over it and will not get a chance to start over why should the offender?

Doesn't seem so nice when they are treated like animals , does it ? Think about the HELL they put their victim(s) through. Sorry, cannot sympathize with these people!!!! As far as re-offending, that's just their SICK minds at work! NOTHING MORE!

Hmmm, you seem to be trying to defend these people, are you one?

You are placing the blame on the wrong people, the blame for recidivism falls on the OFFENDER. They need to take responsibility for what they do and not blame how others treat them. They deserve what they get. I wouldn't want one living near me, he would not be there long, I'd make sure everyone knew.

You ARE an animal when you prey on another human.
