Remove the source of stress if possible. If not when not around the source focus on other things. Put the stress producer out of your mind. A pill is never the answer unless it is all natural. Kava Kava works well for stress and also take extra Vitamin C. It fights the effect of stress. Stress can break down your immune system. Lavender essential oil is a good thing to have a lot of. Put it in a simmering pot and add it to your bath water. Peppermint essential oil is uplifting and helps too.

Without question as the others mentioned.
Exercise, sleep and a good diet.

But don't discount social interaction...being with your friends and family (albeit they are not the cause of your stress!)

Heck, I have even found that reading a good book on a subject or genre' you enjoy reduces tension.

And sex? OK, that's a yes too.

Look up the pills on the internet to see if they have any side effects. If you have been taking them for more than 6 weeks then some of the side effects will be showing around about now.

be still and quiet. get regular sleep. eat small amounts of good nourishing food. drink clean cool water...6-8 glasses a day. take long walks, if possible in a green zone. find lots of laughter. count your blessings. choose to build your life instead of destroying it. keep on the sunny side. eliminate the negatives as much as possible, while accentuating the positives. hugs, hugs, hugs. people need contact. make yourself go outside ar least once a day. make your world more peaceful,,,send love and forgiveness to anyone you are angry with...including your self. back problems are supposed to be related to ego problems, so put more thought into being who you really are. it takes no more time or effort to make a happy life than it does to make a miserable one.

I used to write out my feelings on paper, and then keep them for a few hours. It is amazing the smile you can get reading back on your anger or stress. Now-a-days I keep a blog for the same thing along with general day to day stuff
