i used several headphones and the same problem happens. whenever i plug in the jack into my mp3, either the hole or the headphones just nudges out of the hole a bit, making it hard to listen or can't hear anything at all. i JUST bought a new headphone so i guess its the mp3 player or something.

i wanted to know if there are any specifications to certain type of headphone jacks, cause i thought all headphones worked for everything, basically cd players, ipod, mp3's

yes, headphone jacks are standard in size, and come in several:

1/4 (quarter) inch: the big jacks commonly used on full-size audio componets. most better headphones come with the adapter.

1/8 inch (minijack): this is the standard size for portable componets and headphones.

1/16 inch (sub-mini): these have specialized applications and aren't used that much.

if it's popping back out after you plug it in, and you tried other sets, then you have a defective headphone jack.
