The company SPYWAREQUAKE sent me a popup ad for a spyware program and a "free trial." I downloaded the free trial and at the end of the free period notified them by email that I wanted to cancel and not be billed in the future. I have not been billed and have gone into the Control Panel Add or Remove Programs and uninstalled the program. However, I get a shield with an x in the middle of my tray and every few minutes a 2" x 2" popup from the system tray will appear for 10-15 seconds and it has black letters on a gray background with a bright red color surrounding the gray andit says, "Your computer is infected!" Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I've searched for in files and folders, I've tried to uninstall it from the control panel, I've looked at the register and can't tell what the name of it is and therefor can't delete it. Now the red shield with an "x" is a bar above the screen and it says, "Your current security settings put your computer at risk. Click here . . . .

ur pc is infected with mailware and spyware . trojans
you need to run the pc in safe mode run ur antivirus . spyware , antit- trojan. anti -mailware

Offensive rootkits, which are used hide malware programs and maintain an undetectable presence on an infected machine, have become the weapon of choice for virus and spyware writers and, because they often use kernel hooks to avoid detection,

lets get that out of ur pc ur anti virus will miss key keylogger and trojans . frist of all you need to download avg antispyware this is verry good in getting all kinda bad files . then you need to download Adaware
a-squared< is verry good in picking up traking software files that is on the pc and it will find them . then download antispyware blocker that will find any type of virus . trojans files with antispyware blocker when you run that at the top of the box ur see
C:\ WINDOWS
remove the word windows and just leave in

C:\

then hit scan it will search all of the pc every file for virus or trojans and this will not have any problem with ur antivirus you have i have this my self .

then download spyware doctor that will search the pc for even more spyware adaware . just having 1 or 2 antispyware dont cut any ice at all you neeed what i said to download . when you have them run ur pc in safemode and scan the pc with then 1 at a time . this way from safemode the trojan and keylogger cant hide them self coz there is not internet access on in safe mode all the software i said to download will get the trojans and keylogger

if they say some are in the registry you watch what path there in and get in the registry and right hit on that folder and hit remove dont worry when the pc restart up win xp will creat a new clean folder for you

pc -tip , never ever disable a firewall or anit virus . no matter what

The problem is that you should not have downloaded this thing at all.

SmitFraud exes write a lot of files in different names that makes even registry editing very difficult and futile.

Also, Anti-Virus Programs cannot detect it because it gives itself the "Trusted" status.

My advise to you is to reinstall your OS and format the whole disc while doing this and repartition and reload everything from a scratch.

You'll lose everything that's there, but then, there's no other alternative because everything you have there probably is already infected.

All the best.

Cheers.

That company should be penalized!! They've caused tons of problems for people who are trying to do the right thing with their computer. Here's what I use to remove that:

Tip: Download Ad-aware and Spybot. These are free programs that are well known to actually HELP the PC user. Good Luck!
P.S. Ad-aware might cost now but Spybot is still free.

I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a shot. I was having a similar problem. I went to www.microsoft.com and downloaded Windows Defender. It's a scan you run on your computer. It will detect high risk files and give you the option to remove it. There's also other free downloads that might help you. Look into it.

You already have spyware installed on your computer - the warning pop-ups themselves are evidence. Try downloading Spybot Search and Destroy (free). Update it first Now, temporarily turn off system restore: Right click My Computer, properties - System Restore tab - check to turn off System Restore and confirm. Restart and tap the F8 key at the black screen to boot into safe mode. Use the arrow keys to choose safe mode. Click enter - click enter on the operating system. Do a complete scan with Spybot - delete everything it finds. If you are sure everything is gone - restart normally and turn System Restore back on.
