I'm in Melbourne, Australia and my favourite things about this city are: The high regard for the arts and the fact that it is so well supported here, both by the government and the locals. Also, the fact that so many cultures make up our populous and they are accepted and celebrated at the same time, again both by the state administration and the community. It's a great city!

The culture.
Hahahahahahahaha... just kidding.. I live in Vegas and there's no such thing as true culture here. We do have some great shows.. such as the Cirque du Soleil productions and of course some of the exhibits and attractions offered by the multi-billion dollar casinos make for pretty nifty entertainment.

But the best thing about Vegas is all of the state and national parks nearby. Within a short drive, we have Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and Mt. Charleston.. a bit further, we have Zion National Park (UT), Bryce Canyon (UT), Death Valley (CA), and the Grand Canyon (AZ). I exit Sin City at every opportunity to wander around the beautiful Mojave desert with my camera and a bunch of water.

Of course, I don't intend to live here forever, so I'll keep Melbourne in mind... it sounds great!

edit... I forgot the best part about living in Vegas... all of your friends from other cities come visit you! That probably wouldn't have happened if I'd moved to Iowa =)

I'm from Vancouver. IMHO the greatest place in the world. Why? think of it. In the summer we've got great beaches, beautiful water, and yes, quite a few palm trees. It's not terribly hot, but almost always a good temperature for whatever you feel like. So many activities you can do... Just drive for a few minutes into Stanley Park and you can hardly believe you just left the city.... Huge, evergreen trees everywhere, wildlife, and it's a great place to get some exercise in - rollerblading, biking, jogging, skateboarding - whatever you feel like. Then there's really good shopping down Robson, Granville Island is really a cool place to take visitors - they love it. In fall the leaves turn absolutely gorgeous, and, when it's clear out, the sky is the bluest you've ever seen. Then winter.... 45 minutes or less away, is skiing, snowboarding.... and those mountains are awesome to look at. It really is the most beautiful place in the world. Spring time comes, and the flowering cherry trees down the side streets in Vancouver are just breathtaking. Then, of course, the diversity in people is really wide, and makes it interesting when you go out. Oh yes, one MAJOR reason I forgot... our Vancouver Canucks. absolutely could not live without them... and when the whole city is behind them it's so electric and crazy that you can hardly believe it. Everywhere you go people are talking about them, and it's one thing everybody does have in common. Totally unifies the city - just so great. These are just a few reasons why it's just the best place in the world, and it's my city!

The beautiful rolling hills of upstate New York, foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Gorgeous in the fall especially. The peace of living in a small town after having grown up on Long Island.

I live in north Illinois, USA. I love how the seasons change and how beautiful and green it is in the spring and summer. I love when the leaves change to yellow, orange, and red in the fall. I love the beautiful shining snow in the winter and how I can go sledding. I also love the driver's out here, they are for the most part considerate. Try going to Arizona or California and see how it changes to rude drivers. I love where I live, it is perfect! Plus we have no poisonous animals we have to constantly worry about. There are no rattle snakes, no black widows, no HUGE spiders...like tarantulas!!, no scorpions, no killer wasps, no alligators or crocodiles, except at the zoo. I love living here!

My favorite thing is that I graduate college in May, and then I get to migrate!! I grew up here, but I have never wanted to stay here long term. Can't beat the in-state tuition and the fact that I have had a full-ride scholarship.

7 months!!!
