You can enable MAC address filtering on your wireless router and only allow your address to connect to your network.
Also enable encryption such as WEP or WPA depending on which router you have.
This should pretty much keep people off your networks.
read your manual for information on how to preform these tasks.

It is very easy for anyone to eavesdrop on your router and be able to connect to the internet using your wireless router - If you do not have a password set on it.

Please follow these 2 steps.

1. Make sure that you use an encryption set on your router.
2. And give a password for this encryption. ( do not give a simple password like 12345 or similar)

This way you are protected .

I don't the exact steps for you but my router came with a manual and I simply followed the steps to enable WEP security. After you do that, whoever picks up your signal must know the password before they can connect.

of course. The simplest way is to set up WEP encryption on your router. You may want to consult your instruction manual to learn how to set it up. Be careful not to lose your password though, otherwise you won't be able to set up other computers and devices on yor router.

Encrypt it with a password.
Read the manual that came with the wireless router or open Help to find out how.

This happened to me my first week. I wanted to be nice and let them use it, but it wrecked the bandwidth...so...yeah ;)

Certainly. You need a security enabled network. I suggest calling the d-link customer support, they can walk you through what is a relatively simple process. You'll have a network key, which you can save on your computer, but your neighbors won't be able to get into your network anymore. Do it soon. If they're committing crimes using their computers and using your network, you're going to run into some legal difficulties. Good luck!

actually that's something i want to find out as well because i was watching a program on TV, and it was showing how hackers could get your personal information including passwords, bank account information, so basically people next could download a software on to there computer and could be able to get on the net through your rougher, and if they send out viruses it could effect the economy, and the police could trace it down and could find out that it was your IP. that sent out the Virus... but make sure that you use very long and hard password for you rougher and other online things...

if your router has "MAC address filtering" ability, then you can use that, to filter all the client's MAC address who want to access internet from the router. Just enable it, fill in your own pc-s or laptops MAC addresses, then set it to only allow listed MAC address to access the internet, therefore all unknown MAC address can't access it...
to see Ur PC's MAC or laptop's MAC...go to command prompt(DOS) then type ipconfig /all
the physicall address of your ethernet adapter is the MAC Address
