I say legalize it and tax it like alcohol. Put the same kind of restrictions on it as far as age and being under the influence while driving and stuff. But I personally have not heard of people robbing/stealing for money for MJ. Folks tend to get very relaxed and are pretty easy going, not like crack, meth or heroin. I know not everyone agrees but oh well. and NO I DONT SMOKE IT.. but I have tried it in the past and I didnt become an addict or move on to harder drugs. And it does help people with pain and anxiety and stuff.

Marijuana should be legal period.
I work in a critical care hospital and see the benefits of it health wise for individuals going thru chemo etc.
Marijuanna is not as harmful as alcohol or tobacco.
Its amazing to me how the government has brainwashed so many people into thinking marijuana is the most evil thing on the planet. Until of course they want to make money from it, and then it;s allright.

Hey...I do not smoke marijuana but I AM a member of NORML!
The National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws! I believe marijuana is a safer drug than alcohol...when is the last time you heard about someone smoking too much and robbing a store, or wrecking their car the list is endless, you hear about it constantly about alcohol...a far worse drug and that's legal....doesn't make much sense does it?

In my opinion, anything that helps alleviate human suffering should be legal for medical purposes. Marijuana and other narcotics that ease pain, such as morphine, should be legal for such purposes. Whether or not marijuana and other drugs should be legalized for all purposes is a matter of debate. Some statistics indicate that legalizing drugs in the long run, might result in less problems.
The problem with legalizing drugs such as heroin, for example, is that it sends a societal signal that using this type of drug is acceptable, which most people who have seen the negative side of heroin usage, including myself, would argue against. There is much more of a human cost to drugs than simply the physical negative effects of the drug itself; there is a huge human cost in terms of addiction and the immense amount of crime and lack of love, lack of fulfillment and lack of productivity that goes along with it. Most children who have been raised by one or both parents who are heavily addicted to anything will tell you that there is a huge downside to being raised by parents of addiction.
While most advocates for legal usage of marijuana claim that it is less harmful than alcohol, which may or may not be true, I know of no valid reason why anyone should or would use any drug, legal or otherwise, except in the rare instance of it being medically helpful. The many individuals I have personally known who abuse drugs, alcohol or both, overwhelmingly do so to escape their current reality. It is much more logical and productive to address one's personal problems than to attempt to drown them in abuse, which does nothing to solve the problem and usually causes more problems as well.

Violent crimes are often committed under the influence of other substances, like alcohol. You probably have heard of guys getting drunk and beating their wives or girlfriends. Have you ever heard of a guy taking a few puffs and wailing on his woman? I have not, and I have seen many guys take many puffs. My point is: there are MUCH WORSE substances out there that are affiliated with problems in society. Why not outlaw alcohol?

I would vote no to this. I think there are too many issues with it. I just don't like the thought of having a substance that can impair ones thoughts and actions.
On the other hand, I do think it serves a great service to people who suffer with different medical conditions.
Sorry, this answer is wishy washy! I don't think it should be for everyone.

well, i think the government breaks out even because they spend just as much money on police ecforcement and anti-drug programs than they get in with fines and such. i think it shouldn't be legalized just because i watched and continue to watch it rob my mother of a life. but i think it's no worse than pain meds doctors give out like candy. if i sold all the leftover meds i've flushed i would be rich!! i think we're better off w/o it and i think they should consider adding some apinmeds to the list right under pot. i was in second grade and i could roll a joint and knew all about the growth and harvesting process. i think pot robs people of their lives, they just don't see it.

Marijuana's effects are less than many other drugs ... the reason that it is not legalized in canada has to do with marijuana's history and its effects on canada.
hope this helps

I think it should be legal, and I think drug sentences should be shortened and people should be able to do whatever the f*ck they want as long as they aren't hurting any body BUT i think there should be better drug rehabs and counselling and prevention from people becoming abusers and not just users.
