How are the graphs of y = 3x + 5, y = x + 5, and y = x + 5 alike? How are they different?

A. All have the same slope, but different y-intercepts.

B. All have the same y-intercepts, but different slopes.

C. All have the same y-intercept, but one slopes up to the right and two slope up to the left

The answer is B -- they all have the same y-intercept (5), but they have different slopes (the slopes of your lines are 3 and 1 and 1, respectively).

The slopes of all three lines are positive (actually you only have two lines since your 2nd and 3rd are the same, unless you made a typo). Because they are all positive, they are all going in the same direction so C would not be an answer.

(Of course if you made a typo in your question, then my answer may no longer hold true!)

None of the 3 choices is correct for the problem as you wrote it.
The second and third equations are both y = x + 5, so they have the same slope and the same y-intercept. That rules out A and B. And all 3 equations have positive slope (i.e., they slope up to the right), so C is not correct either.

I suspect that you mistyped one of the equations and the answer should actually be B. But I can't be sure.

C; the slope for the 3x + 5 must be different from the other 2.

C is the right one because the first linear equation has a slope of 3x but the other two has the same slope of x

B.all have the same 'y' intercepts but different slopes

The answer is:

B. All have the same y-intercepts, but different slopes.

Y=Mx + b

M is the slope.

Therefore 3 does not equal 1 and the clopes are different.

When x = 0 , y =5 in both cases.

I vote for B.
