Robert Frost has made a deep impact with these lines, on many persons. We are reminded about our responsibilities and duties that remains waiting to be completed by us, before our time is up in this world. Every one has a responsibility for others, for your wife , children, the society, the country and the humanity in general. You do not exist for yourself. You need to fulfil these responsibilities, so that you will lie in peace in your grave.

This is the last line of "Stopping by woods on a Snowy Evening", by Robert Frost (1875-1965), one of America´s greatest poets. It´s a great poem about a man who stops by a village house to watch the woods on a snowy evening. He stays there for a while and then moves on because, as he (the persona) says, "I have promises to keep,/and miles to go before I sleep,/And miles to go before I sleep." Great poem about a single simple moment in his life.

It means my car ran out of gas a few miles from my house and I'm really tired because it's late and...

Seriously though, when I think about that poem, I think about how I hope to accomplish everything that I really want to before it's too late and how we're all on the same boat.....so to speak.

It is a touching sentence that carries hidden , deep meaning. If read with the other parts of this poem , I would understand it as follows:

Life is full of magical moments. We simply rush by , overlooking these simple but profound moments . If we consciously stop by we see beautiful things all around us, captivating and arresting our attention. In fact one can lose oneself in this.

But.... besides these there are other things , equally important ... to be done within the life span of an individual. we have along way to go.

so , as you go along enjoy the things around you and keep going till.........

...and miles to go before I sleep," actually.

From a great Robert Frost poem, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,"

It is about contemplating suicide, but then deciding against it.
