Did the doctor mention holding her in an upright position for 30 minutes after she eats? Or is she doing this while she's still eating?

Both of my kids had severe acid reflux. They were not "happy spitters." But your daughter sounds like one.
All kids reflux. Some kids reflux way more than others. And some kids have pain associated with it, or aren't able to hold down enough food to gain weight properly. Sounds like your daughter doesn't have either of those problems, so, in the absence of other symptoms, it's NOT a problem.
You don't need to switch her formula. She will grow out of it, slowly, and will likely not spit up at all by the time she's 8 or 9 months old. In the meantime, it's gross, but it's fine. It's just how your daughter is.
But try this experiment: when you have a spare moment, measure out an ounce or two of water, and pour it on the floor or the kitchen counter. Then compare the way that looks to what you're seeing when your daughter spits. My prediction is that she's really not spitting up that much, since she's gaining weight, and it will be obvious when you see what an ounce of liquid really looks like.
If she really is spitting up multiple ounces at a time, let her pediatrician know, just in case he/she has a different treatment recommendation for you.
I think, though, based on what you've said, you have a cosmetic and hygienic problem, but not a medical one. You'll just be doing a LOT of laundry for a while. Wouldn't it be awesome if they made baby raincoats or something? :)

Are you sure it's not formula intolerance. Sometimes this could be the only sign, sever spitting. Has you doctor said any thing about acid reflux. My son had it. If I remember correctly it has to do with the stomach muscles contracting causing them to spit up, sometimes alot. My son got medicine that I would give him before every meal, then he wouldn't spit up. Frequent burping helps too, Those are the only two reason I know of for spitting up a ton.

My roomates daughter had the same problem, She changed her formula to a soy based one.. and added more cereal, she would put a scoop * same as the formula * for each once the bottle was. She's now 12 months and on 2% milk and eating like a little piggy.. If you don't wanna change the formula just add more cereal to the bottle and see if that helps.

some babies are just spitters. If she is gaining weight and not having tummy pain, then it probably isn't the formula. You could try a different type of bottle that reduces air ingestion, or you could try burping her more thouroughly.
But the truth may be that the bids are designed to be cute, and not an indicator of how big a normal amount of spitup is.

I think that switching the formula is what you need to do. Better ask the doctor first, but I think its an allergy to the formula. You can also try getting some Dr. Brown bottles, or the Walmart's Parent's Choice Bottles (just like the Dr. Brown bottles, but cheaper).

what signs for formula intolerance would those be? spitting up a lot is the main indication for formula intolerance. maybe you should try a different kind. perhaps try a soy based formula for a few days and see if it helps.

Burp her alot, and for a long time. I was shocked when my premature son was in the hospital at how this little old nurse would prop him sitting up on her knee, and smack his back in a slow steady rhythm, but very firm. He seemed to love it. My daughter spit up a lot and the pediatrician said that it seem like more then it really is...also make sure your not over feeding her...sometimes she might keep going because they like to "suck" not necessarily wanting to eat..will she take a pacifier?

Besides soy-based formula, another suggestion would be to make sure you thoroughly burp her after every few ounces of formula. Gas bubbles make babies spit up a lot more than if they get rid of them....
