One Halloween when we were kids, my mother surprised my brother and I that Halloween afternoon by announcing that we were going to dress up as homeless people (well, hobos, she called them). Needless to say, I took exception and was not happy. I had my heart set on wearing the Superman costume I wore the previous year and loved it.
But my mother would have none of it and insisted if I wanted to go trick-or-treating, it's the hobo outfit for me.
Needless to say, I relented and suffered through the Goodwill rags and grease paint (which caused my face to break out for about a week; THANKS MOM!). The worst Halloween I ever had.
Anyway, enough of my ranting. How about the rest of you?

A couple of you mentioned that you never had Halloween costumes. Sorry about that. Sometimes I forget that there are apathetic parents out there. But I felt I should have had more of a say in what I dressed as for Halloween. And I certainly could have done without that awful grease paint.

Geez... I always liked skeltons, devils and monsters... so one day my Mom comes home with this grey and pink fuzzy mouse costume.... good grief I must have felt the same way Ralphie did from "Christmas Story" in that hideous bunny uniform.... it's a wonder and likely only by the grace of God after that trauma that I didn't end up in San Francisco....

A sack of potatoes....sure everyone loved it at school and when i went tricking, but it sucked for me. i wore an actual sack of potatoes and it itched. it was one of the warmest halloweens in minnesota...it was 65 degrees outside and we dressed for cool weather because all week it had been in the mid twenties....nedless to say i got a rash on my neck from the costume and the hat made me sweat....i have pictures and they're horrible.....its been painful even going back to this, did i mention spandex should have been illegal....eeeeeewwwww.

I was never forced to wear a costume...but the worst costume I had was...a rabid poodle. Yes, a rabid poodle. I found a poodle costume (which is bad enough), wore fangs, and put fizzy stuff in my mouth. I also had a sign that said, "Beware! Rabid Poodle!" *sigh* That was a terrible decision...lmao.

probably 2nd or 3rd grade we had this little parade in school that we all had to be in and my mom created a pumpkin costume for me. it looked nothing like a pumpkin though. but i gave my mom props for trying. but during the the parade my costum began dragging on the floor and falling apart. by the end of our round it was practically all gone!
i never again went in the parade.

A cheap one piece Gumby costume, with a flimsy mask that had a lil white rubber band that broke.

at least you have a memory of any Halloween costumes that your mom prepared for you. I don't have such privileges. So i think my worst Halloween costume is not to have one, at all.

Tonight my mom forced me to go trick-or-treating against my will. I had to wear one of those horse/cowboy costumes.
