A troll on the internet is a person that's trying to cause trouble. They join forums just to start fights with other members. They try to annoy people and then laugh when their target loses their temper.

When I came out in the 70's Troll meant an older and unattractive gay man. Especially one who hit on younger hot guys.

A troll is an old gay guy that usually lies about his age and leers at younger gay guys and is only interested in sex and not a relationship. A similar term is chickenhawk, which means an older gay guy that likes younger gay gays (i.e. chicken).
