You need to know what the tax rate is to solve this.

For an example, let's say the tax rate is 7%. The sales tax amount of $0.60 is calculated by:

0.07x = 0.60

{{ where 0.07 is the tax rate and 'x' is the cost of the item }}

So to solve for x, take the sales tax amount (0.60) and divide it by the sales tax rate (0.07), to get x = $0.60/0.07 = $8.57.

Of course, your HW answer will vary depending on what your sales tax rate is, but the above example should show you how to solve your problem.

If you buy something, there's always tax right? Well, for every dollar you pay, you have to pay 6 cents. So, if the tax is 60 cents, than the price is 10 dollars because 6*10=60.
