I grew up in So Cal. The weather is mostly dry with some rain in Spring. The grass and trees are green year-round and kids run around wearing shorts and five stitches short of nude. You can make plans for a BBQ picnic any time of the year. In the winter you can get away with a light sweater. Someone mentioned that it's expensive to live there but compared to No Cal, the shopping there is a bargain!

Then I moved to No Cal, lured by a high salary. Last spring, it rained continuously for 3 whole months with 3 or 4 days of sunlight. The weather is very unpredictable and in San Francisco area where I live, we have "micro climates" where one neighborhood could be glorious in sunshine and the next neighborhood miserable and cold.

The air is much more cleaner and there is so much nature to appreciate with streams and rivers, wooded areas, where deer and raccoon and opposums can be seen. Last time I was eating at Dennys and everyone stopped eating to watch something outside. There was a shepherd guiding a flock of sheep- in the middle of the city. Yes, No Cal certainly is more beautiful than So Cal and everyone should live here at some time in their lives.

I live in SoCal, and it is nice, but VERY expensive, I am paying 1450/mo for rent on a two bed room in a pretty good area. But you also have to pay more for gas and you have to pay your own utilities when you rent. I am actually looking to move because the cost of living is so high, it also takes some getting used to the people here, depending on where you are from. They are alot different than the people I grew up with in the mid-west. Beware, if you move here you may not be able to afford to save up to leave if you dont like it!

I live in Socal and it is gorgeous but very expensive here. As far as Northern cali goes...ppl really dont seem to care much for what ppl think about them. I live in Los Angeles and ppl are superficial and shallow. Thats probably why ppl hate us. oh well. The weather here is great!!!!! U should move here if anything for the weather.

I live in California.

We don't call it NorCal. It is Northern California it is much different than Southern California or Central California.

The beaches of Northern Californa are wilder and more for scenery than swimming. But the scenery IS awsome!

i'll stay where I am. the weather is nice in summer if not a tad humid, the sailing is great and if I get the notion to do it, I can get anywhere in the world from here if i put up the sails and just go. Now that's freedom.

If you're looking for beach weather you need to move to SoCal. I live there. It's fantastic. I could never dream of living anywhere else. But beware...it's really expensive.
