Had and Explorer 8000HD DVR that kept turning itself off.

Comcast replaced it with the Explorer 8300HD DVR which most of the time records shows fine, but sometimes records shows with pixelated (little square bars) images.

Don't know why it happens or how to correct. Cable company either replaces the cable box, or has me unplug it so it can reboot.

Had 3 8000HD DVR boxes (that shut themselves off) and now on my second 8300HD DVR box that sometimes records pixelated and sometimes records fine.

Please help!

the question should be is this a digital channel and if so, do you get the same problem while watching it.

if they replaced the box, it's difficult to imagine that you'd fwr mulriuple bad boxes. if what you're getting is totally random, it sounds like signal drop. signal drop on digital channels can sometimes corrupt the bitstream of the file resulting in pixelated blocks.

watch the channels that commonly have problems and see if it occurs while watching them. however, if it's a small minicule problem comcast is likely to not spend the time to find it.

but it sounds purely like a signal issue. while i don't have cable..i do have a digital satellite DVR that was improperly installed by a professional that developed the same problem when the wind would blow a tree in the way.

Switch to satellite. There is nothing you can do about pixels from cable tv if you have check to make sure all your connections are secure & your cable is not damaged anywhere.

If you get pixels with satellite it's always fixable and usually easy to find out the cause.

And some companies will install 4 rooms free (with a commitment).
As with everything read the fine print, ask all the questions and research the company on thier website. I can't stress enough, "read the fine print".
