It's a great idea. Parents don't have to inspect money for sharp objects embedded in it and most kids love it. They'll get plenty of candy elsewhere. I used to get pennies or nickels and thought it was great. Now my grandkids get nickels or dimes and think it's wonderful.

This is a great question. I think that since most parents use money as a means of reward and control it is probably not the best idea. The reason is that by giving children money may diminish the amount of control they have with their kids.

If you want to do somethin other than hand out sweets, why not peanuts or raisens in a bag? Kids like those too and they are a little healthier.

Thanks.

No it's not. Halloween is about tradition and making memories. The gift of candy is a token of shared community and fun for children, not about getting nor about impersonal cash.

There is one exception. Occassionally, good hearted children will GIVE UP their candy and instead trick or treat for donations to various worthy causes (the biggest example is UNICEF). Then, it's OK to give money instead.

Nah...kids want candy! I remember when I got change on Halloween no one would trade me anything for it. Give them change if they look too old though. Those brats don't deserve candy.

I think so because people use to give me change all the time, but they would give some candy with it too.

I don't think so because the kids might think its a wrapper for a chocolate coin but they eat the change. They can choke like that.
