One that you can dress up or down, or can just wear to the supermarket on a fine spring day or to an afternoon tea party..

I'm not talking about vintage dresses you find at the local thrift store or at that junkyard sale that sells oh-so-cheap dresses..., but those you actually buy at stores.

On tv they always show these cute outfits and the whole thing is only 79.99 but you go to buy THAT SAME OUTFIT and it's like 300 bucks!

Ok, to answer your question, I say 50-60$ if you shop carefully and know where to go for the clearance sales. I've bought a 499.99 fancy designer dress at Saks for 59.99, it was "off season" and was "not an 'in' color" (it was orange. I like orange).

The key is to buy a dress that you can accessorize. It doesn't really matter so much what type of dress you get, but how you wear it and what you wear it with.
For an everyday dress, I'd actually invest in a good quality designer. Because they usually make dresses in styles that can be carried throughout seasons and years to come. It totally depends on the dress: How much you like it and how often you can see yourself wearing it. I recently bought a white dress for $200 and I've been able to wear it absolutely everywhere, even cocktail parties. So I'd go with something that you can dress up and dress down. And choose quality over price. You want a dress that you can wear, not wear out after 5xs.

Around $100. Maybe even less. I have a very cute dress that I bought from Old Navy a few months ago that was like $20. I also bought a super cute dress from Victoria's Secret around spring time and it was aobut $90.

It really depends on how much you plan on wearing it. Get your money's worth!

I paid $60 for a rayon dress this spring, it was flared at the bottom a little, and was green print, with buttons down the front. It is versatile, and I paired it with two different pairs of sandals, and two different types of jewelry. It had a small shirt collar, so it could be dressed up, or down, according to my needs.
It came from a catalogue, from a chain that sells all kinds of clothes, it was not a discount catalogue.

you would not get a job right now that pays that much and requires to wear dress clothes everyday. Have you ever had a job before? if not then chances are zero you would a first job paying you 70K Just relax, try to apply to jobs in retail or apply at a grocery store or something after college you can start applying to high end jobs.

I usually spend $50 or $60 at the retail level, but make most of my purchases at thrift shops for about $10.
