The front of the computer melted? Or the front of the harddrive?
Will the computer turn on? I doubt it will work, but it won't hurt anything to stick it in another computer and try it.
You might want to try sticking in a freezer first. It will constrict the drive and temporarily treat a stiction problem (it does work, i've tried it). Make sure you but it in a zip lock baggie first.

Tough to say until you try it. Normally I would tell you to remove the hard drive yourself, but considering the heat damage that might have occurred, take it to a local computer store so they can remove it carefully. They can then further test it.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I have seen stranger things happen. Bottom line, if you can get it fired up (sorry for the pun) and running, make a backup of the critical data immediatly. No telling how long it will run.

You can try it. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful
