If you attempt to answer this question and you are a christian please dont quote scriptures to me. I would really like to hear from somebody who died and came back because when you get down to it they are the only ones speaking from experience.

First.. do you believe in the soul? An essential uniqueness?

The best answer to this, I believe is that we awaken into the place we were before we were born. Whether or not we die is another question.

Different philosphies discuss this in terms of Heaven (basic Christian theology.. but do the Catholics mingle with the big hairs on Channel 40 in LA? Where do the Unitarians go? The Baptists? The Jehovah's Witnesses who think that their way is the only true way?).. or in Hinduism, just attaining a life beyond physical existance? Nirvana? Buddhists believe in reincarnation until one cycles into Enlightenment.

Near death experiences are reported by many. Many talk about the experience of the long tunnel with the welcoming light at the end. Being greeted by departed loved ones and relatives. Of course, no one really knows and if someone says they do, ask as many questions as you can.

It's Halloween! Attend a seance and see who shows up from the 'other side'? Watch Ghost Whisperer on TV and see if there are any answers there. In the opening scene of Hamlet, he advises his friend, "There are more things in Heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Of course, as finite beings, understanding the infinite is a bit of a stretch.

This may sound totally untrue to you but, i promise it really is. A few years ago, my great grandma died from a heart attack. The night of her death, she came to me in my sleep. It wasn't a dream, though. This was different. She came back to tell me that no on should be worried about her and that she is in a better place with no more suffering. So where do i believe our souls/spirits go? Straight to heaven if you make it there.

I suggest you consult a "medium" who may be capable of "putting you in touch" with someone who has died and can address your question.

To my knowledge, the state of a person's soul has not been scientifically, or religiously, documented.

Why ask around?

Just find the nearest railroad, and have a little nap on the rails intself, and just see where the soul goes yourself?

This is a question that people are afraid to truthfully answer.
I do not know the answer, but I have thought about this same question before.
Good Luck

Your soul returns to the spiritual dimension until it is reborn into another body.

There is no such thing as a soul, so it probably goes where all non-existent things go: nowhere.

I was knocked out for twenty minutes and didn't know it. Does that count?
