The process is a metabolic one called gluconeogenesis and it occurs even in you, without the need of sunlight!!
It is essentially the inverse of glycolysis, but for two reactions that are irreversible in glycolysis. So, the cell uses two different enzymes.
As it is a synthetic process ( delta G > 0), the source of energy is ATP and the source of electrons e NADPH or NADH.
You can begin with, for example, 2 mol of lactate (or lactic acid) and ends up with 2 mol of glucose.

yes, depends on wat u mean cuz the sunlight is still there on a really cloudy day
that is the only way they stay alive and if they didnt that means there wouldnt be any plants on earth right now
