leave it in the bathroom window all winter til summer comes again, in summer months it can go outside, then take it inside in winter a greenhouse or conservertary,

It's according to where you live. Here in South Georgia ( I think the same would apply to anywhere in Fla., Ala., Miss, Lou, Ark,Texas, or places in the west like Oka, Utah, Arzona,) yo can raise I know date palms, and banana trees. The Date palms make a good fruit , but the banana trees make a small hard fruit . I may be good for frying.
Palm trees need lot so sunshine and do best in a sandy area. Next to a sid eof your house where it can get the best sun in the winter and best protection from the wind, (and or snow ect) is best.
I would palnt it in a large pot inside your house with a plant lamp over it if you are in a really cold area. Than transfer it outside in the spring.
Check with your garden center at lowes or walmarts or a plant nursery for the correct fertilizer, and insect spray . I fit survives most palm plants like banna trees will die back in the fall and return growing fastin the spring. I always cur my banana tree off abut a ft or two form the ground in the late fall. an dit grows back to over 15 ft every year with huge leaves. The date palm trees I know of are on a fence row and the owner trims them every fall they survive to regrow in the spring. But you do need a good sady based well fertilized soil for best results.

LOL, I had the opposite problem. I bought a little palm that was supposed to be a dwarf. It was maybe 18" tall with a 6" trunk. I planted it in some sandy soil mixed with mulch and it got watered automatically when the lawn sprinklers came on. In maybe 3 or 4 years, it had grown above the eaves on my garage and the trunk grew to something like 15 or 16 inches around. We had to remove it to make room for the new garage, but I didn't do anything special to it to get it to grow. Water and the southern California climate probably was the main factor

Well, it depends on the type of palm and what zone you are in. This time of year I bring my palms in and I'm in zone 7-8. Most palms don't like a lot of watering, they like sandy soils, and I give mine a time release fertilizer I order from PlantAdvice.com, called Nutricote. Palms require other nutrients that Miracle Grow doesn't have.
Do your research. Find out what kind of palm, where it can grow, if it's an outdoor or indoor palm,,,etc. And good luck.

differ ant kinds of palms, but keep it inside until the base gets atleast 3 inch round, has to be hardy enaough to withstand cold temps, extreme cold no, mild yes, other than that you might want to use miricle grow once a month until you transplant it. Big hardy palms sell for a good price!
