Yes. Progesterone is necessary for implantation. Even if the egg is fertilized, if it doesn't implant, you can't get pregnant. The progesterone blood test after Clomid treatment is to check to see if you ovulated. If its too low, you did not and may need a dose adjustment. If your Dr. doesn't know to increase your Clomid, please find a Reproductive Endocrinologist who can treat you more appropriately.

It's possible---I had low progesterone and I'm now 12 weeks... Make sure your doctor knows how important it is to you to have a baby. My gyny used to say "as long as you have a uterous, we can put a baby in it". You're closing in on where intercourse alone may not due the trick; it's time for close medical observation with some meds, like progesterone shots and maybe ovulation medicine like Clomid (you may get multiples, though). Sit down and consider your options. Is it being pregnant you want or being a mother? Adoption is another option (there are SO many babies who just need someone to love them); and with the age of your eggs there's a higher chance that any child you carry might be more prone to birth defects. Don't get me wrong, you're probably not THERE yet, but you're closing in on it. Talk to your significant other, talk to your doctor, and make some decisions. I hope God brings you what your heart needs :)

Your progesterone goes up after you ovulate. Putting you on progesterone will not make you ovulate. The problem is not low progesterone, but rather that you may not be ovulating.
Now if you find out that you *are* ovulating and you still have low progesterone, that's a different problem. Low progesterone can cause you to miscarry. In that case progesterone supplements can help.

If your doctor won't put you on progesterone supplements, get a second opinion. You can ovulate all you want, but if your lining won't support a pregnancy, you'll never carry a baby to term. I have the same problem. My first doctor kept telling me that prog. supp don't work and not to bother. I found a new doctor who took it seriously and now I have a son.
Good luck to you. I know its heart breaking!

your doctor can put you on progesterone, but you may have other problems that are causing you not to ovulate and those factors need to be evaluated first

Maybe you should try natural progesteorne cream, I hear it has a lot of success for those with low progesterone.
