For most women it will last 3 to 5 days, but everyone is different. To make her less grouchy, I don't know, it depends on what is making her grouchy in the first place, but I recommend asking her if she'd like you to rub her lower back because that is often a painful spot during this time of the month so it might make her appreciate you.

Ok you are probably not going to like this -
Length of time is different per woman - most are 5-7 days, I was 7-10 days and got longer until I was finally 24/7 anemic and a grouch all month long.
I had two daughters and though usually women sync up and start within days of each other, we started a week apart so that my husband and son threatened to go camping for three weeks out of the month and return when we were all "normal and happy" once more.
Now the nice part -
If she is moody and grumpy, ask her what you can do for her and if she wants to be left alone, then do it but don't go off with the boys, do something nice, like pick up your socks or wash the dishes without being asked. A back, shoulder or foot rub might be nice too. If that doesn't seem to smooth her mood, avaoidance is the best policy but check in over the phone.
Unfortunately, for most women when it comes to this time and men, this is about all they can do.
The rest is up to the woman to try to overcome the bitchy part. We seem to like to be that way and not want to let it go cause we have an excuse. Me, I worked hard to treat my man decent at all times and in return he did the same for me. My "period" was no excuse to be nasty to the one man who treated me with kindness, decency, compassion and passion. So I overcame...

Normally menses lasted 5-7 days, but it can occur as minimal of 2 days and dragged to 10 days - It depends on the individual. 'Grouchy" during menstruation most likely due to the hormones, just make her comfortable and don't stress yourself with it.

It depends. Maybe you should ask her. If you want to make her less grouchy, stay out of her way.

She will be on it until she tells you she is off. Normal time frame is 5-7 days... some women freakishly get it longer but it is not common. Also... some women use it as a way to say they 'dont want any'.

if you want her less grouchy, then you need to be more sensitive to her needs, whatever they might be. also be thankful this is the question rather than why isn't she getting it.

It depends on her. Some people have it longer than others. It helps if you don't treat her like there is something wrong with her it's just nature taking it's course
