I do really know what you mean but Who cares I am white! So call me white! My skin colour does not matter to me. If others are bothered by being called by their skin colour etc it is their problem. I call my friends whatever I want because they understand that calling them by their skin colour does not change my respect for them. And the fact that they are of differing skin colour has never made them less in any way in my eyes.
By the way I'm aussie so things might be a little different here (like my spelling probably) haha

The people in the caucus mountains are pretty dark actually. It is genetically unlikely that we are from the caucus mountains actually. African/Italian/Asian/... American are also inaccurate descriptions. Well, Italian and Asian aren't when talking about an American, but African American can be wrong on both easily. Black people can come from Haiti, Jamaica, India, Trinidad, Brazil, Dominican Republic, and several other countries. Also, people can be African American yet be white, especially with South America. More importantly than all of this, why can't we stop labeling ourselves by our skin color?

Psssst! Hey. Take a seem at any average software sort and you're going to see that each white and black are indexed for Caucasians and African Americans and the opposite races by means of their right ethnic businesses. It's no longer ONLY the Caucasians who get generalized by means of a colour. It's been occurring for goodbye it is difficult replacing it.

Because not all of one race comes from the same country.

Also white people come from many different countries.

African american is a wrongly used term and means an african born person made into an american citizen. They are using the term in a wrong way. May be politically correct, but it is Incorrect usage.

Uh... African Americans refer to themselves as black. Hell other people refer to them as black. Whites are called so because it's easier to say in a casual conversation just like how Blacks are refered to as blacks. Is any of it politically correct? Not as much. But in the end, anyone can call whites caucasian. It's not as if it is restricted.

The PC movement has made it unacceptable or less so to use certain racial/color terms. It's a way of casting off the negative connotations of the old terms.

Why do you care anyway? Sicilians aren't even white.

"Why are WHITES the only ones called by COLOR a color we are not even?"

I've met plenty of "black" people who were really brown. Is it that big of a deal anyway?

"WHY CANT WE call ourselves CAUCASIAN?"

actually blacks are called blacks more than african-american although I do see what you're trying to say. Honestly, for me, white is just quicker to say.

Because the little people who like to label others can spell the shorter word!
