Absolutely true.

Volcanism fast as an example of rock cycle? Shame on you teacher! That is only the start of it's cycle.

Rock comes in many forms and is caused in different ways. Lava comes up from volcanoes (yes quickly) but what happens then? It is gradually eroded by weather. It breaks down into small rocks and stones and then into fine grains often forming very rich soil. Eventually it reaches rivers where it is deposited as mud. Some carries on into the sea as silt. Both mud and silt solidify.

Sea creatures die and sink to the ocean floor where they turn to limestone and chalk. Vegetation falls, rots and compacts to form lignite, jet, coal and other rock forms.

As the world goes through its geological phases land is thrust up or sinks. Thrusting what was ocean floor high up as mountains. Sea fossils are found over a mile high!! Mud stones, sandstones can all rise and again be eroded away.

But the cycle is even longer than that. What if our teachers lava from the volcano is lucky enough not to be eroded? Tectonic plates grow at one edge and subduct at the other. Over Milennia that piece of lava will be carried along with the plate until it reaches the subduction edge. There there it will be consumed, no doubt to rise to the surface again from another volcano!

Hmmmm. Tricky question. (I'm an earth science teacher.)

Vulcanism and faulting (earthquakes) are part of the rock cycle--and they are usually quite fast.

But most of the rock cycle is very slow.

And it never, ever stops.

So your question is mostly true, except for the vulcanism and faulting, of course.
