I take your point about Paris Hilton, but she probably still went to a posh school, even if she didn't do very well.

I didn't mention anything about happiness, Shirley, read my definition again. I'm perfectly aware you can be perceived as a 'success' and be incredibly unhappy.

Quite the opposite but the trick is that you have to "appear" that you were educated at a posh school and this can be achieved by standing on tip-toes and balanced under a clothes line with a clothes peg suspending you and your nose to it for several hours a day.

it all depends on how you measure success? Do you mean how much money they have? How much influence they have?
Bill Gates was called a success and never went to college.
Made computers in his garage. Paul allen his partner was with him. The two richest men in the world. Never went to college.
Movie stars and singers usually have no education except in music or acting. They make a lot of money. Did it make them happy or a success? Elvis presley killed his self with drugs.
So did Marylin Monroe, they died young and was very unhappy.
To have a job and make a living wage where you can support yourself is a goal you can do in a vocational school in under two years. Have a modest home and someone to love?
wouldn't that be a success? In the bible it says "give me neither riches not poverty." The middle class is shrinking that is to bad.
Because health experts tell us they are the happiest people.

NO.
I know someone who went to an average, public, non-private, not posh High School and who now is a plastic surgeon. And he didn't go to a top medical college either, just an average one.

Studies suggest that the longer our children spend in public schools the worse they do on international tests. I guess you could take that to mean that going to private schools better prepares them for college, which is where they can go on to become financially stable after starting in a career field.

nah. Bill Gates is an example. He didn't finish his last year of college. But then again, he was already a friggin genius, and quit college because he was working on Windows.
But no, as long as you have something that you are good at, you can utilize that talent and do something with it.
