When there is not even oxygen to the brain the impulses cant get a little haywire... it can be different for everyone, and for you its that feeling... Mine was also a warm feeling but then I would get pin pricks in my arms and legs...

First......

NO>>>>>>>> Your coach has NO and I mean NO business or authority to make you do that!

Your symtoms could be from a ton of things none of them good and mostly its your body saying BREATHE

Sprinting is important but drilling by sprinting with not breathing is actually counter productive.. and can do PERM ,,damage to your body! THe thinking has changed on this.. you coach needs to update his or her workout info.
Dont do it.. You can squeeze a breath in every 25 yards without sacrificing your time!!!!

Your coach is wrong... If it were my child Id confront the coahc and tellmy child to refuse the request and go the principal.

Sorry but coach is wrong!
You might also want to see your physician and describe those symptoms, ..
While they can be caused from lack of oxygen... the warm feeling is a bit odd.. might wan t to run it past your doc.

Good Luck.. and remember YOUR coach cant make you do that! If it makes you feel badly listen to your own body!

I'm not sure you're telling the truth because I do not know anyone who can swim a whole 100 without breathing, and I remember specifically on my high school team there were only 3 out of 25 kids who could swim a whole 50 without breathing.

I think perhaps it's time to find a better coach. Even swimmers in the olympics etc breath during 50m!! And I would say it would be extremely difficult to swim 100m without taking a breath!!

Phuck your coach, dude I'm a hardcore swimmer (just look at my email: superswimmer_1138@yahoo.com) and take it frome me, you need to breath. Your coach my think not breathing makes you goe faster but he is wrong. If you don't breath you don't get enough oxyge and you slow down even faster than normal. As for the peeing part.....I've got no idea what that's about.

I think you need a new coach. Not breathing for a 100 is not right.

50m i a sprint.
100m is not.

alot of swimmers do not breath in a 50.
but in a 100m you are depriving your muscles of oxygen alas energy and in the long run does indeed slow you down.
your coach sounds like he/she does not have alot of knowledge in this sort of thing!! and as for the wanting to pee yourself when you do not breath, is because you are concertrating so hard on not breathing that you suck your stomach in pressing on your bladder.

I think it's one of the signs of oxygen deprivation.
