I am not a teacher but i wondered how teachers felt about it, do they feel that the students might use yahoo answers to cheat off homework or use it to get help?

There is a very fine line between getting help and asking for the answers. I am a school teacher and I expect my students to try their best to complete a task, ask for assistance if needed (parents or friends). I like them to use Internet for research, not to find answers of a question or math problem. They are just wasting their time waiting for an answer rather than exercise their minds, use their knowledge and find it themselves. In other words, if they use Yahoo Answers to seek for guidance on a subject, references, or research is fine with me; as long as they do not ask for exactly the answer and copy exactly what ever they say.

Anyways, death isn't an answer. Have you talked to someone you can trust? I understand if you don't tell you're parents or you're friends because you probably think they'll be nervous. Talk to a psychiatrist via telephone or face to face. They help a LOT. I appreciate your courage and fortitude for going on and on. I know it's hard but don't perform euthanasia or suicide or anything stupid (sorry). Take like anti-depressants like Zoloft or something. Your grades dropped to 70's cuz you've been focusing and thinking more on the bullying & sex assaults. You should really live in Canada 70 %s are a B+ to a B-. Are you sure that you really need the subjects you're taking because it's gonna affect your unknown future. You're pretty young. you shouldn't really focus on your love life until you finish education. Who knows? you might end up pregnant in High school. But you have to make your own decisions. If you get really depressed & theres no one to help you, cry it out. It's a great way to "take out" all your feelings. Don't hold & control your emotions. I know this answer was probably useless, but don't perform euthanasia or suicide. Talk to anyone you have comfort with. The best option is a psychiatrist. Don't cut yourself. It's torture. But I can't blame you if you decide to revenge.

I am a college teacher and use Yahoo myself to get answers to my students' questions. Teachers only want their students to learn. Cheating is not learning, just completing an assignment.

I think it is a great tool. I don't care if students come on here to find answers. Part of education is knowing where to find the answers to your questions. As an adult if I don't remember something or don't know the answer, I look it up or ask someone.

It is always to your benefit to utilize your intellect and try to challenge yourself. I am not against my students using this as a resource for information as long as they are also willing to investigate and dissect responses.

If an answer seems like the right one or agrees with your position, it doesn't mean it is right or wrong. I just hope students are willing to dwell deeper to ensure the work they do is their best effort.

At least this medium encourages communication...hopefully in a positive manner.

I'm a teacher and I encourage my students to use all of their available resources to find answers to random questions. I teach elementary kids, so getting them to realize that the experience of others is a valuable tool is a lesson in itself.

I used to call my friends and share answers..it's no different except with Yahoo you get opinions from so many more people with different perspectives!! There is an element of "lazy" to it but I think people remember better when they hear it from their peers.

teachers care about if you learned something and can you reapply it to something else similar. how you learn is not as important as if you learn. like did you buy that fish or did you catch it. if you caught it you can do it again and live but if you bought it can you still earn money to buy another one?you don't always have to learn everything but u do need to know that you have to do something to get results

No I think that they mostly use it to ask personal questions. Very rare is it when a student asks a question about Hamlet or something.
