I have had great luck with the warranty sold by Mercury Insurance. You can by the extended warranty from any agent that sells Mercury Insurance, but you don't have to have you car insured by them to get it.
The thing I like best is that you can take the car to a dealer if you want, but you don't have to. You can take it to any mechanic you like. After they fix it, Mercury pays the mechanic with a credit card over the phone so there is no waiting or forms or hassle.
I have never had a problem with a claim. They have fixed a thansmission (over $4000) and 3 or four smaller claims, with a $25 deductable.
You have to buy the warranty within 30 days if a new car or 3 days if a used car and the car has to be bought from a dealer.
Good luck!

yes and no. you can purchase warrantee from any car fixer uper place. The dealer has connections from the manufacturer to supply warrantees. Trust me, the dealer makes a lot of money when they supply warranties. If you purchase a used car, I would shop around for warrantees.

The warranty IS from the manufacturer, but they need the dealer to make good on it (or not).
