Michael Vick probably has more natural talent than anybody in the NFL. Why, then, has he been so inconsistent? Sure, he broke that unbelievable home playoff winning streak the Packers had, but he also hasn't had a season completion percentage higher than 56.4% in a West Coast offense which thrives on high-percentage throws.

The reason for Vick's insonsistency is that he seems to have great difficulty playing within a system, probably because he's never had to; from Pop Warner to Virginia Tech, coaches gave him the ball and let him make plays. I think a lack of coaching is the reason a lot of phenomenally gifted quarterbacks have struggled, not just Vick. Guys who looked like gods in college like Ryan Leaf and Akili Smith were coasting by on their natural talents and never really learned how to play the position. I think it all goes to show that great quarterbacks aren't born, they're made.

I think that so far this season, Jim Mora is actually finding ways to get this guy playing more as a traditional QB. Right now we have to say that its working and the Falcons are right there in the picture. SO FAR!

Lets ask this question again at the end of the season shall we. Vick has a decent team, good offensive players and a good coach. If the wheels come of his wagon once again this year, its going to start looking like "Kordell Stewert" time for the Atlanta Falcons......

If no, if they make the playoffs and look good, maybe just maybe all the boy needed was just a little time and good coaching. Like I said ask me again at the END of the season............

I say he will be the real when he does what he been doing the past 2 games for the last 8 or 9 games in the season. He needs to get passing the ball the way he did because it makes then a better offense when he passes the ball instead of just running all the time. If he continues to do what he has been doing than he will be the real deal.

If you mean real deal in being a passing QB, im not sure yet. Despite his 2 games since the Giants handed him and the Falcons their lunch, im not sure. He has had stretches like this before, where he lit up the stats columns for yardage and scores,,, but he never seems to continue it or evolve in it..so, we'll see. But he certainly has all the tools to be the real deal, but he has been in the league a long time now and needs to realize all that potential he has.

When he puts together a complete season (much like his last 2 games) and does what he's supposed to do right, thats when I think he'll be the real deal. He's had 2 very good games, but it doesnt negate the fact that for practically 5 yrs in the NFL he's been a HORRIBLE passing QB. He needs to put it together week in and week out before he can become noted as the "real deal".

I do. Vick is a great QB. He's quick and has a good eye. His passing accuracy needs some work, but he is still a serious threat on the field.

It depend alot on which defense he plays against and how they play him. If the defense can constrain him to the pocket it is very likely he will fail. A large amount of his recent success has been based uponhis ability to buy more time for his recievers. So maybe its his need for mobility or poor recievers but either way it is hard to decide how "real" he is until we see more success.

He will be when he understands completely that a quarterback's job is to run the offense, not run the ball. He has improved tremendously in the past few weeks.

He's a good player and he is proving that he can pass too and not just run. I like him so I am rooting for him to prove his critics wrong.
