lol this question was on the yahoo homepage. Well the psycology behind that is easy. The spend more money on negative ads about their opponents. No body cares what one can do for a state or country, because everyone "does" the same thing. But when people see why someone else "doesnt do" or des something wrong, they will go against one in elections.

There's an article in yahoo news now that asks this but from what I see the negative ads peak the closer we get to election day.I haven't had the chance to read the article so maybe it's not that they spend more on negative ads, they don't want to be accused of uncessary dirt slinging but more that they time the ads to be released differently.

Unfortunately, they seem to spend it on negative advertising, especially at election time.
During the parliamentary term however, they waste a lot of money on telling us about how good they are. When they have budgeted an item over 3 years, they make a habit of telling us that the whole amount is spent every year.

they spend more on negative ads, considering that before they put out such ads they have investigations, lawyers opinions, people who will present it in such a way it will look real and truthful while in positive ads all it is, is the TRUTH, AND VERY FEW PEOPLE EVER LISTEN TO IT OR BOTHER WITH IT! SUCH IS POLITICS NOT ONLY IN THIS COUNTRY BUT WHEREVER YOU GO.
