Well see.

Withdrawing will not be humiliating. We kicked Saddams azz like we said we would.

Even though we were there based on manipulation and lies.

After the US withdrew from Vietnam, there was a fairly orderly assimilation into one nation with no large-scale retributions. Vietnam is prospering and is an international vacation destination.

When the US withdraws from Iraq, there will be internal wars and bloodshed. EXCEPTION: The US will still occupy the oilfields and the shipping ports, just as the US occupies Guantanamo Bay today. The oil is just too great an economic factor for the US to leave to the barbarians.

The US will not be humiliated. George Bush and his Gang of Four will be forever despised internationally and will be considered the worst presidency in the country domestically.

I was 10 years old when we finally brought the last of the troops home from Vietnam, so I don't know what the perceptions of other country's citizens were of the US at the time. But, I believe it is not whether we withdraw, but how we go about it. If we set a goal and state clearly that once it is reached we will leave, and then do so, we have less of a chance to be seen by other country's as weak or humiliated. Let's make the goal clearly objective, keep it realistic, give the rationale, reach it then get out.

Dubya will stay as a 2 year lame duck.

It will be more humiliating because we created the problem in Iraq. We entered Viet Nam to support the south because France was leaving. We took over a war that France had already decided was un-winable.

Yes they will withdraw. The Vietnam War I don't remember exactly why they were fighting. They Choose to televise this war. Make it entertainment for the masses. People are far more aware of why the country went to war. People were indeed aware of the human cost in Viat. The know it alls did it again any way. Once again young people are come home in body bags & another country has been left in tatters. People starving & dead. Can't be much pride in that.

Bad Luck or Stupidity or Greed you name it.

I think it will. The poor planning has put the USA in a very untenable position. I think the way to look at all this is, "You can't be wrong and strong"
