She just an a**hole don't worry about her and continue to enjoy your Halloween. Don't let a rude, lonely, and bitter woman ruin your fun and good time. Remember, nobody is too old for Halloween. P.S. I would have told her off even if she was in a wheelchair.

I'm sorry you suffered this upsetting experience while trying to have fun on a holiday which is all about fun. Age has nothing to do with going trick or treating, or how 'deserving' someone is to get a treat. Even grown people trick or treat, and there's nothing whatsoever wrong with that.
Please don't take this personally and don't let it affect how you feel about the holiday. By next Halloween you'll have long since forgotten about it.
People who are mean and cruel behave that way because they're unhappy with themselves and their lives. It had ZERO to do with you!
Also take into consideration that this was an elderly person. Wheelchair or not, many elderly people begin losing their better judgment at a certain age because of Alzheimer's disease or dementia. It destroys their mind and eventually takes away all rational thought. It's possibe that she's in the throes of such an illness. If that's the case, I'd feel sad for her, rather than angry, since she might be losing control of her mental faculties.

In this community, you are not too old. Next birthday, at 14, you would be too old. The laws here say so.
You did the right thing, you respected the old lady, and did not talk back. You should be proud of yourself, for not talking back, and for looking older than you really are. Don't let one opinionated old lady ruin your day. It's just candy, which your Mom can buy bags of at the store anytime.
I didn't have a good time, either. There were just a few kids, and I bought a lot of candy. I bought whole big candy bars, and several kinds, so the kids could pick what they wanted. They did not seem to like the idea, and grabbed one and ran off the porch, without a thank you. One little tiny Princess did not make it to the porch the same time as her sisters, her Mom made her put her flashlight down in the yard before she came to the door. She is one of 3 kids who said thanks, and she was the only one who said it without prompting. She was probably 5 years old. Too cute. One little boy, about 8 years old looked up at me and asked me how many? Get real, one, you little greedy brat! Is what I wanted to tell him. "one" is what I did tell him.
So, I'm not an old lady, yet, and I'm not in a wheelchair, but I can pretend to give you a candy bar, to make up for the one you didn't get.. Pick one: Kit-Kat, Snickers, Reese's pumpkins, Zero, Nestle Crunch, or Milky Way? Bet you never got a cyber-space candy bar before! LOL. Happy Halloween and enjoy the candy you did get, and forget about the old lady. She probably did not have another thing to do in the world to do but sit in judgement of you. Feel sorry for her, and tell your Mom you are proud of yourself for not talking back to someone old, and tell her you know where you learned that from...Mom!

I went trick-or-treating when I was your age, as did many of my friends. I believe her objections to your age were entirely unfounded, and as you say she did not maintain said objections for others who were even older and thus even more entitled to her rejection, which they did not recieve. There may not be a straight answer to your query, but some possibilities are:
-you may have had an objectionable costume (to her, at least)
-she may have more personally known the older trick-or-treaters or
-she may just be a crotchety old lady, prone to being unreasonable towards innocent young teenagers.
Please note that NONE of these may have been the case, I am only thinking of nitpickety details, which I have encountered. Though that last one sounds about right, unfortunately...
In short: I am very sorry she ruined your evening, and can only insist that as long as you want to take part in the fun of Halloween and dress up, you shouldn't let a few misers get you down. Just brush them off, because they are NOT worth worrying about. If you still want to dress up next year, go for it! You are still young enough to trick-or-treat, at least for a couple more years, though I daresay you yourself will find an age where you will prefer to leave such winsome activities to younger children, and occupy yourself with older parties and other entertainments.

No, sweetie, you're not too old. Nobody is too old to go out and have fun in a nice way like that. I am so sorry that hurt your feelings, but remember... there are people out there who have very closed minds and make judgements without thinking. And lots of people who are pretty stupid, honestly. This lady sounds like she's a little bitter and closed minded, and doesn't understand the meaning of this trick or treating thing we do. Please just try to blow it off and relax.. enjoy the festivities and just go to another house. I'm so glad you're out there getting dressed up and having fun with it. Never stop enjoying life like that.

I agree how rude of the lady to say anything, if you put your poarch light on to give out candy it should be for everyone who comes to the door, sorry she hurt your feelings. The same thing happened to me when I was about your age. Know that she has many issues of her own, ignore her and have a Very Happy Halloween.

I don't think you're too old to trick or treat. Some people just have their own little corks. It probable had nothing to do with you as a person. Keep your head up and if something like that happens again, just keep moving on about your business. Don't let others keep you from having fun.
