We are lead to believe we live in a democracy where we are free to choose and have a say in things, but in reality, all we have is a voting exercise every few years which serves the single purpose of making us think we are getting a say and making a change. This keeps the working-class happy and working and stops us from overthrowing the people in power when things aren't going as they should be, as they usually aren't.

In reality there are people behind the "parties" making the decisions, who don't get voted in or out, and they are the ones who are really in power. The visable "leaders" are only there to attract attention away from those really in power.

The party we voted out some years ago because we didn't like their policies, we vote back in again some time later, because we don't like the policies the other party has now, thus the agenda goes through with our "lesser of the evils" type approval.

The only real choice we have is whether we give power to the governmental system or not.

You should vote because some politician will get the sack effectively if not enough people vote for him/her, my mate lost an election because of not enough votes, he was 3 votes ahead first count but after a re-count he was equal and after two more still equal then they drew lots and lost. ! more vote and he would have got in, 1 measly vote.
Also my Grandfather and his pals volunteered to fight for our rights to vote in the first world war, heis health was ruined his brother died, that should be enough even if there is no difference between different political parties, where is the urban 4X4 party

What has voting got to do with French? ... but, it's your right and privilege to vote. If you don't vote, then you can't really complain about the way government is being run. Remember, every vote counts!

Who or what is "french". If you mean a French class, it is capitalized. Grammatical rules have their reason for existence - like enabling the reader to make sense of what you've written.

If you decide to write sentences beginning with capital letters, do you believe that people will judge you ignorant because of it?

The way I see it, it doesn't matter who you vote for, the government gets in. But as previously mentioned by gingertod, people have fought and died for the right to vote so I guess we should make use of our privilege!

I believe in France it is compulsory to vote, because to be elected in France you must have more than 50% of the vote.
In this country it is not compulsory to vote. It should be. As it is not compulsory nobody is bothered so long as they are getting their "benefits". I know of a family of 3 who claim benefit, One cares for his wife, who cares their daughter. Each claimant has a motability car!! This is what happens when nobody bothers to vote. We the tax payer foot the bill with all these hidden taxes.

If you don't care don't vote, but then you really do not have a right to complain since you did not participate in the political process.

If you don't vote then you should not be allowed to participate in society and you certainly do not have a moral right to complain.
