Well France won the world cup in 98 and then the Euro in 00. But as for which one is more competitive, you have to say World Cup. Not just because the world could potentially qualify but because the Euro Championship leaves out two of the best teams in the world, Brazil and Argentina. But every world cup, a team from Europe doesnt qualify that probably should have...just look at the Netherlands in 2002.

I'm gonna say the World Cup is the most competitive. Even though the Euro Cup is important to European nations, the World Cup is definitely the crown jewel to ALL nations (I'm not so sure about America).

The World Cup is definitely more competitive, although the Euro Cup is pretty exciting too.
To answer your second question, France won the WC in 98 and the Euro Cup in 2000.

After winning the World Cup in 1998 and the European Championships in 2000, France simultaneously held both trophies between 2000 and 2002 - when Brazil won the World Cup again.

The World Cup is generally considered a more prestigious tournament and is thus of greater importance to the participating nations.

World Cup is the most important championship by far to every country especially to the European countries, because they wanna keep the the title in Europe... The only threat Europe has is Argentina and Brazil... other teams are just jokes... Goooo Italy... the whole world watches FIFA world cup... even we U.S. got into it... I'm sorry but U.S. scucked... Football (which is the real name of this fabulous sport and not soccer) is just not for Americans... (I'm American and it's painful to say this, but it's true)...

the UEFA European Championship is more competitive than the FIFA World Cup coz you can see all top European nations in action. there are a few rivalries in Europe & these matches are worth watching it.

FRANCE is the only European team to hold both the FIFA World Cup & UEFA European Championship when they won it in 1998 & 2000 respectively.

The WC is more important. Some of the big teams in soccer aren't in Europe, i.e. Brazil, Argentina. The euro cup doesn't get as much hype as the wc.

Great question. Prestige would have to undoubtedly be the WC but as for competition, I tend to lead toward Euro for the simplistic reason that the International talent is spread more evenly throughout teams, where as in the WC we have super sides full of talent. The distribution of top players throughout the various clubs sees this ( Euro) competition remain world class also. But still the WC will always be so special to us all and an event we would never miss.
