The safety message is a myth...If parents go with their young kids and only allow wrapped candy to be eaten, then there's nothing to worry about. I suspect, more and more every year, that all of these events are more about how to commercialize the holiday. I mean, you can only sell so much candy right? So now how to get people to spend more? Bring your kids to the mall to trick-or-treat! Sorry, folks, but this is another way of killing your sense of community. Wake up! Stop selling your children!

The majority of parents are no longer comfortable having children go door to door. The world isnt as safe as it once was.
Many prefer a zoo or mall where there are security personal and cameras. Younger children will be there. The older kids will be coming soon no doubt, be patient.
It is very very sad.

It is not strange at all. Parents are more careful where their children go, most parents only take their children to people they know real well, in today's society that is a very good idea.

It happens to me every year...... but I live in a really small town. I think that parents are getting more and more worried each year about preditors and poisoned candy.......and also maybe it is too cold! In either case I'm sure its not just your house. :)

Thats happening to me! And I was so excited. I feel like kids don't trick-or-treat like they used to when I was a kid. (I'm 21) They all do weird things like go to the mall or zoo.
