You can do amazingly well on your own..."IF" your dates are flexible, "IF" you're willing to spend a little time researching both hotel and airfare deals...My GF and I are going to Las Vegas for two weeks in December..Our total cost for RT non stop air from KC MO, plus 14 nights hotel stay is $341.50 each..We do look for deals all year and take advantage when they appear...

We are willing to be flexible and don't mind moving from one hotel to another to take advantage of "deals"..we had to fly on Tuesdays to get the lowest air, and we are staying in three hotels, but, they are nice places>Main Street Station>Las Vegas Hilton>Orleans...Our packages also included in the "deals", "extras"(from each hotel), including a pair of tickets to the National Finals Rodeo from the LV Hilton, tickets with a face value of around $100 each, for Saturday Dec 9th...

IMHO this is the best Las Vegas site, since a great deal of it is interactive with it's members...http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com

If you come back later and add info such as the dates you wish to go and a price range(hotel)/amenities you're interested in, I will see what I can do to help you out more...

Since you don't list your point of departure I can only offer you my best source
Go to www.swavacations.com
This is the full service travel agency for Southwest airlines
They offer the lowest vacation packages to Las Vegas, with every possible hotel.
As an example, I am going on November 19th for 3 nights (total cost for 2 is $636.00) That includes airfare and 3 nights at Caesars Palace
Don't go in December, and remember that New Years eve can be very very expensive

Check to see if allegiant air flies out of your area. They have flight/hotel packages for cheap. Many hotels to choose from. They even take you to your hotel and back to the airport. You can also pick what seat you want on the plane. I use this airline numerous of times to fly to vegas. Everyone is very friendly on the plane as well. Last time I went I stayed at Treasure Island for $400 a person

I have found the best prices at
http://www.orbitz.com

Usually I get airfare & hotel for less than the price of just booking the same rooms for the same days direct thru the hotel.

you should say where your wanting to leave from. Try www.usairwaysvacations.com
I always see some good deals there.
I booked my airfare and hotel separately though and it was cheaper than a package! Used the airline website and hotel website directly.

I live here in Vegas and my family is always flying out from the midwest. We find the best deals on Southwest.com.
Here's the scoop--sign up for DING!. Click on the download and follow the instructions to put in what cities you want to fly to and from. This feature gives you access to special "sales" so to speak on Southwest Airlines. Whenever there is a special fare available, you'll get a notice. We usually can get flights for $49 one way Kansas City to Las Vegas. The special sales are random and you have to just keep checking in on them until on pops up that works for you. It's worth it to check!!!
Good luck!

do it yourself. America West Vacations used to be best but tied in with USAir now but worth a shot. hotels downtown cheap as are off-strip. They have websites - 4 queens. boydgaming.com, etc. vegas.com also has good deals. Stay off Strip unless you like to waste $$. Can always visit....

Check with a travel agent. They get great package deals. Don't go at Christmas. We made that mistake once.
