Any of Dan Brown's books are just as good as the Da Vinci Code. I would highly recommend Angels and Demons as the same character from the Da Vinci Code is in this book. I would also suggest Deception Point.

If you haven't already, read Dan Brown's other works, especially "Angels and Demons." Another author I would suggest is Arturo Perez-Reverte. "The Flanders Panel" and "The Club Dumas" have the same sort of mystery puzzle style as "The Da Vinci Code." If you like that aspect of it, you might also like Katherine Neville's works such as "The Eight" or Umberto Eco's works such as "The Name of the Rose." Reviewers have taken to saying that Neville, Eco, and Brown make a trio of good reading. If you like one of those authors, you will probably like the other two. Some other books you might like are "The Dante Club" and AThe Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl and "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. All of these books basically follow the same theme of a race to solve a puzzle by following scattered clues and they are all very well written.

If by now, you haven't guessed that everybody else wants you to read the other books Dan Brown has written, you should. But, your question was what 'other' books, so I will answer that question. Try some of the books by Matthew Reilly and James Rollins. Their writing is just as good and trying to save the day is the theme. You might also want to try THE CODEX by Douglas Preston written as a single novel by him. But along with Lincoln Child he has co-written several books in the 'Pendergast' series that are very good. Happy reading, enjoy! p.s. You might also want to try some of the earlier works of H. Rider Haggard.

Actually if you can find it there is a hilarious pardoy of the Da VInci Code known as the Da Vinci Cod. Funnier by far and for my money better written.

ive just read the historian by e kostova, and i really enjoyed it. its about a girl telling the story of her father hunting for dracula, by narrating his tale and reading his letters. its set in several countries including many in europe, and its a really fast-paced novel, quickly switching between the past and present.

i though the da vinci code was ok, but this was better as it had much better character development, and a real gothic feel to the whole thing. you might enjoy this one!

Try The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl! It's about literary scholars in the 1800s that have to solve the mystery of who is conducting a series of murders. All of the murders are replicas of scenes from Dante's Inferno. It's a little slow to get into, but it's really good!

Try Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh. They sued Dan Brown for plagiarism, so I am assuming that the book is quite similar.
