Monitors are so cheap now a days that now you can buy them for as little as
$30, and fixing will cause as much or more then a new one. i would recommend a trip to Fry's on Saturdays and Sundays because that is when they have most of their items on sale.

Monitors even brand name ones are fairly cheap today, it usually costs more to fix than a new one. Your best bet is to ask a repair place for an estimate that will tell you if it is worth it, if the monitor is old you do not know what will go next, (I would not sink any money into it)

If you want a new one check out the Viewsonic crt and lcd. I have seen a Viewsonic Crt new 17" for $186.00.

seems like it would be the most remote object inside the monitor. I went to best buy and walmart and they have some really nice lcd monitors for under 300 dollars. but if thats out of your range maybe you could convence a rich friend to upgrade and maybe they would give you their old monitor.

I would probably buy a new one. Be REAL CAREFUL if you open the monitor and try to fix the button. CRT (not flat screen ones) monitors have like 30,000 (or something like that) volts charged up in them.

with price points for the new lcd screens so low I would suggest you just by a new one. anyways, the down time on the repair of the monitor could be at least a week maybe even longer.

It depends. Is it old? Are you broke?

If you are really tight on money, fix it, but be careful not to hit the tube inside!!!!! :)

If you can't fix it yourself, definitely buy a new one, or even a refurbished one, as labor at a repair shop can be pricey just to fix a switch! :(

You may get away with it cost wise, but I doubt it....like most electronics the cost of repairs, on top of the time you are left without it, usually makes it not worth it
