You can take two approaches on this.
1. - Tell the sob to screw off and go screw himself -
2. - Do everything within your power to prove that those who think this way are wrong!
and I mean - by what ever it takes!!!!!!
I suggest you use the second approach unless you are ready to seek employment elsewhere. -

You could probably be more quiet and act shy or something. Usually conceit and arrogance is associated with being highly opinionated and kinda loud-mouthed. So maybe go the opposite. Or leave the company and get a better job.

Start listening and not speaking.
Save your answers for when they ask you, or for when you're in a 1-on-1 with your boss.
Offer your services with, "Please let me know if there is some way I can help.", instead of "Yep, that's another task for me, let's book a meeting."...it just gives them the opportunity to give you the task, instead of you assuming that you'll handle it.
I also recommend that you ask your boss how he recommends that you handle it. He will appreciate knowing that (a) you're working to correct this issue, and (b) you respect him enough to seek his advice. He is also very likely to have some examples of the behavior that upper management cited in referring to you...These can help you understand what gave them that impression in the first place, so that you can address very specifically what you "did wrong".

I wonder if he's confusing arrogance with ambitious?
I would look up the definition of arrogance & if you are, I would work to change it. Arrogance isn't a good trait to have; arrogant people are hard to work with and like. They think they are better than anyone else - and they show it. Are you really a better person than others?

I would ask for clarification - what are you doing to get this response? Then evaluate and correct your behaviour. Take it with a grain of salt. If this is the first time you have had this feedback, ask your colleagues if they feel the same way, then consider the source.
Good luck!
