Check to see if it is really a QuickTime movie that you are trying to view. You might need to upgrade your video players.
Be sure to download from the right place.
Real Player - http://www.Real.com - look for the Free Download
QuickTime - http://www.Apple.com - look for the menu item for QuickTime or iTunes Player (depending on the version of Windows that you have installed)
Windows Media Player - http://www.Microsoft.com - look for the menu item Download, then look for the Windows Media section.
Flash or Shockwave or Authorware - http://www.macromedia.com - look for the menu item Downloads, then look for the Download Free Player section.
Good luck

You may have downloaded a corrupt Quicktime file especially if other media players are unable to open the file.
Some people throw up DIVX movies (usually bootlegged DVD clips flying under the radar) and call them Quicktime movies (which won't play in Quicktime due to being the wrong format) - the other poster has a good solution - I've never used it myself.

It depends on the codecs and what time of movie it is. If it's not regional set (Us standards or which ever standards it is in) it may not play or may have errors while playing or trying to play. You have to find the right CODECS in order to play it.
I fixed my errors by going to this website and downloading the divx alpha codec pack and now I can play any movie/clips/anything using any player (gom player, windows, quicktime, real, shocker, shockwave...ect.. you get the point) It is a bit of a hassle, but if you want to play it, you have to use it/download it!
Hope this helps.
