It seems like American grammar has gone to hell.
evrythin is jus tfucke'd op. 2 bad cuz i hav a hrd tim rding' it,,,,
Does this type of language bother anyone else? I'm 21, so I'm not being old-fashioned, but it seems like no one cares about writing correctly anymore. I truly have a harder time reaching up to the "2" key than just typing "to."
I'm not professing to be an English teacher, by any means. I have a high school degree.
But wasn't it, at one point not so long ago, a common courtesy to avoid butchering the English language?

I agree. Shorthand has become way too popular these days. People need to understand that accurate grammar in their daily lives is important in their future, such as, in your example, a high school degree.

I dont believe 'shorthand' typing or even texting is degrading the english language. It is a 'language' or more a sub language that is developing. It does get annoying when people butcher 'shorthand' up.

It makes it easy for the illiterates to hide the fact they can't spell. These are the people who will try to keep the trend alive. Some people will say it's cool. I say it's annoying.

Chat-acquired gibberish.

Intelligent, educated people still know how to spell and compose a coherent sentence.

Even in America!

It does annoy me. Especially when people speak with incorrect grammar. Example : "Me and you went to the grocery store" COME ON it's you and I.....

I understand what you mean...
