G'day Physh Stix,
Thank you for your question.
Louisville will be in the catbirds seat for a championship game if they beat the West Virginia Mountaineers this weekend. Mind you they still have some tough games to go so it would be foolish to look too far ahead.
Your analysis is correct.
Regards

I think they should be able to have a great chance if they beat West Virginia (a big if) and if they beat Rutgers. After tehy beat West Virginia they should jump both Florida and Rutgers. The big question is what will happen if the Ohio State vs. Michigan game is close will if adversely affect the Cardinals chances for a national title run.
I think that if Ohio State blows out Michigan and Louisville wins out they should be in the title game. If the Michigan-Ohio State game is close the Coaches poll could favor the loser giving them the BCS numbers they need to contend for the national title. I know some reporters (Mel Kiper) believe that the loser of the Ohio State - Michigan game deserves more of a shot than an undefeated Big East team.
We just have to wait and see. Go Cards!

If Louisville goes undefeated and wins big in several games, it is possible. West Virginia is of course a very big obstacle. Michigan likely loses to Ohio State in the regular season finale at Columbus, but I think could still end up in the championship game in a rematch against Ohio State unless one of the next BCS contenders finishes very strong and undefeated. I think in the somewhat unlikely event that Louisville does make the championship game, Ohio State would likely beat them easily.

One loss and they are done for, if they can beat both WVa, and Rutgers then they have an outside shot of making the title game if both of those teams win out until they meet.
Here are scenarios that will guarantee that Louisville gets in if they are undefeated.
SEC
Arkansas lose to LSU but beats Florida in the SEC title game, Bama would also have to beat Auburn. That would leave the top teams in the SEC with two losses.
Big Ten
OSU lose to Michigan OSU has a weaker SOS and would drop further than Michigan in the computer portion of the poll.
Big Twelve
Can pretty much remain steady it would help if Texas gets another loss.
Pac 10
USC beats Cal but loses to ND
Notre Dame could remain steady with one loss and probably not affect Louisville after they beat both Rutgers, and WVa.\
Just remember though one more loss by either Rutgers or WVa except against each other would hurt the computer portion of Louisvilles ranking as well as in the Sagrin portion as they already have the 70th ranked SOS.

If they win out, yes, but I don't think they, or any other Big East team wins out.
Louisville beats West Virginia.
Rutgers beats Louisville.
Good Bye Big East, until basketball season.
Order is returned to the college football universe and leaves us with:
The Texas/Ohio St. rematch in the desert for all the marbles.

No, I don't think that Louiville will make the championship. Michigan will crush Ohio St. and West Virginia will beat Louiville. Michigan is going to play West Virginia in the championship game. Michigan will cream West Virginia. Nobody can beat Michigan.

Matt... What was the 17-3 win over NU? Michigan is overrated and will show, again, when they come down to town.
